This year 33 people from Grandview went to
the
Rio Rancho, New Mexico area to help with the
construction
of a building addition for Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church.
Emmanuel is located in the heart of Rio Rancho and attempts to serve an area in this rapidly growing community that has had little influence from the church in the past.
We will be posting pictures of the work and other
activities
as soon as they are available.

The work was concluded on Friday by noon after a very productive week.
The women and youth had finished painting all the pew ends, painting a
set of bookcases, painting the walls in two offices and polishing the
backs of the pews.
The men installed the last
roof truss, roof decking, moisture barrier, and metal roofing material
for the building that will be a fellowship hall with kitchen and bath
rooms. Inside the buiding they built a load bearing wall that
extended the entire length of the building. This included
installing some trusses that were really a pain to get into place.
Then they completed all the framing for the other walls that formed the
kitchen, bath, storage rooms and hallway. Finally most of the
electrical wiring was pulled throughout the building and the outlet
boxes were fixed in place.
It was a great week
with lot of hard work but also lots of good fellowship both with our own
group and with the local folks from Rio Rancho that were assisting with
providing materials and serving lunch each day. Thank you Lord for
this year as we look forward to what you have for us to do next summer.
